Mindmap.io turns every topic into an AI chat you can branch. Mindmapi.ai turns your notes, PDFs, recordings and YouTube links into a mind map you can revise from, then helps you test yourself on it.
Both are AI mind map tools that run in the browser, but they are built for different jobs. Mindmapi.ai is a separate product and is not connected with Mindmap.io.
Mindmap.io is built for exploring ideas: each topic can hold its own AI conversation, and you can branch off any answer without losing the main thread. Mindmapi.ai is built for students: it makes a map of a whole topic from your study material, keeps the detail in a note on every topic, and has tools for revising, such as Test me, which hides a branch so you can check what you remember.

Mindmap.io details checked on 1 November 2026 against its homepage and pricing page, mindmap.io.
Making the map is only the start. These are the tools for learning from it, all in your browser.
Find any topic or note in a big map in seconds, then click it to see just that branch while the rest fades.
Click a topic to read a summary of its note at the bottom of the screen, without opening anything. Open the full note only when you need it.
Hide the topics under any branch behind ? cards, recall each one, check it and see your score. Then retest just the ones you missed.
Keep the detail for each topic in its own note, with pictures, or let AI write the note for you.
Ask a question about any topic. AI can search the web for up-to-date facts, and the answer is saved into that topic's note with its sources.
Drop coloured sticky notes anywhere for questions and reminders, and add free text, arrows and brackets to link ideas.
Tab adds a sub-topic and Enter a topic beside it. Undo and redo cover every change, and branches can sit on one side or both.
Send a view-only link anyone can open, test themselves on and copy, or start a live session and edit one map with classmates.
Save the map and every note as a PDF, Word document or Markdown, or the map alone as a PNG, SVG or text outline.
New to it? Take the three-minute tour on a practice map (no sign-up), or browse free example maps for GCSE, A level and university.
Create a subject and add your notes, a PDF or Word document, a lecture recording or a YouTube link.
Mindmapi.ai organises the material into a mind map of the whole topic, with every branch editable straight away. Build it further with the mouse or the keyboard.
Keep the detail in notes, ask AI about anything unclear, then use Test me on a branch to check what you can recall. Export to PDF or Word for revising on paper.
Start from the notes, slides, recordings and lectures you already have, so the map matches what you need to learn.
Hide the topics under any branch, say each one from memory, check it and see your score. Then retest just the ones you missed.
Send a view-only link that classmates can open without an account, or start a live session and edit the same map at the same time.
Export the map and every note to PDF or Word, ready for revising away from a screen.
If you want to think through ideas by chatting with AI, branching off different answers and choosing between AI models, Mindmap.io is built around exactly that. It also offers an AI agent that edits your maps, connectors for assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT, and a zoom that shrinks every topic to a one-line summary.
If you are studying for exams, Mindmapi.ai is built for that instead: maps made from your course material, notes on every topic, Test me, and export to PDF or Word. Many people use more than one tool.
No. They are separate products from different makers, with similar names. Mindmap.io is an AI mind map tool built around AI chats in every topic; Mindmapi.ai is an AI mind map maker built for students.
Yes. Open any topic's menu and choose Test me. The topics under it hide behind ? cards: say each one to yourself, tap to check, and mark whether you remembered it. At the end you can retest the ones you missed. It is free and doesn't change your map.
Yes. From the Share menu, get a view-only link. Anyone with it can look at the map, read the notes and test themselves on it, and copy it into their own Mindmapi.ai account if they want to edit it. You can switch the link off at any time.
Yes, to start. The free plan gives you one mind map, made with AI or built by hand, with all the editing tools. Pro costs £5.99 a month (or £15 a term) for unlimited maps built by hand, 30 AI-generated maps a month and unlimited AI help.
Yes. Mindmapi.ai runs in your phone's browser, so you can review, edit and test yourself on your maps anywhere, with nothing to download.
